Light micrograph of cells from a vaginal smear test showing endometrial adenocarcinoma. This is a cancer of the lining of the womb, the endometrium. The cancerous cells have enlarged nuclei (dark purple). Endometrial adenocarcinoma is the most common cancer of the uterus, which usually occurs in post-menopausal women. Tumour cells can spread rapidly. Treatment may include surgery and use of anticancer drugs. Papanicolaou stained cells. Magnification: x1150 when printed 10cm wide.
