Vaginal lesion. Light micrograph (LM) of a section of vagina from a HIV/Hep B (human immunodeficiency virus/hepatitis B) infected patient. HIV-positive women have more vaginal intraepithelial lesions compared with negative controls. Image shows hyperkeratosis (epithelial thickening) and inflammation. Magnification: x 60 when printed at 10 centimetres wide. Human tissue.
