Alcoholmeter being used to test alcohol levels. This instrument is a type of hydrometer that uses buoyancy to measure the alcoholic strength of liquids. It consists of a weighted tube that floats vertically in the alcohol. The specific gravity (density) is determined by comparing the scale on the tube with the level at which it floats in the alcohol. Photographed in the Sarco oenology laboratory, Gironde, France.
