Two pairs of male (blue) and female southern damselflies, or mercury bluets, (Coenagrion mercuriale) mating in a stream. This rare damselfly is found around rivers and freshwater springs. It is threatened by habitat loss. Photographed in the New Forest, Hampshire, UK.
