Dharam Ablashi (born 1931), US microbiologist. He was born in India, and studied veterinary medicine before moving to the US. He is best known for his co-discovery of Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6), an immunosuppressive virus that can cause encephalitis and seizures. His work has focussed on Human and Simian herpesviruses, and he has also contributed to the field of immunovirology, as well as to research in HIV and the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). He co-founded the American Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Photographed in 1986.
