Digital sound meter. This is used to measure sound pressure levels, a common measure of noise pollution. This device used A-weighting, an international standard means of approximating the spectrum of ambient noise level to that perceived by the average human ear, and is thus well suited to environmental and industrial noise monitoring. The reading on the screen is 42.7 decibels, as might be found in a quiet domestic room.
