Dissection through the top of the head showing brain, and pathways of the optic nerve. Visual information arriving through the eyes is sent to the visual areas of the brain by way of the optic chiasm, the lateral geniculate nucleus on the side opposite each eye, through to the corresponding visual areas of the brain (right eye to the left visual area, left eye to the right visual area). When the information arrives at its final destination, the brain then processes it.
