Displacement reaction, image 2 in a series of 3. When an iron nail is immersed in a copper (II) sulfate solution (image 1), a single-displacement reaction occurs. Copper metal and iron (II) sulfate form as a result (Fe + CuSO4 -> Cu + FeSO4) and the solution colour changes from blue to green (image 2). Image 3 shows the nail with deposited copper outside of the solution.
