It was one of many inventions that he displayed to the public in a cabinet of curiosities that became famous. This reading wheel (or book wheel) was based on one designed by 16th-century Italian engineer Agostino Ramelli. Artwork from the 15th volume (first period of 1895) of the French popular science weekly 'La Science Illustree'.
