G. Robert Coatney (1909-1991). Portrait of the US parasitologist G. Robert Coatney. Coatney was instrumental in developing the drug chloroquine for the treatment of malaria. He was a career US Public Health Service officer and Director of the National Institute of Health's Laboratory of Parasite Chemotherapy, USA, from 1935 to 1975.
