Caption

MRSA bacteria culture. Petri dish culture plates that have been inoculated with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteria. Initially red-pink, the medium of mannitol-salt agar is chemically-configured to turn yellow when S. aureus ferments the mannitol, lowering the pH, thereby, changing the color of the phenol red indicator dye. Photographed at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), USA.
