Red Mangrove (Rhizophora mangle). A tree which grows in brackish or salt water along the shores and inland rivers and creeks of the Florida peninsula the Red Mangrove often forms almost impenetrable thickets holding together muddy banks causing lands to be built up and forming a protective bulwark against tropical hurricanes.
