Jerome Alexander (1876-1959), US chemist. Alexander, a consulting chemist and chemical engineer, specialised in colloid chemistry. His works include 'Colloid Chemistry' (1919) and he contributed to the 7-volume 'Colloid Chemistry: Theoretical and Practical'. Alexander also translated 'Colloids and the Ultra-Microscope' (1909) by future Nobel laureate Richard Zsigmondy. Alexander was made an honorary member of the American Institute of Chemists in 1951.
