Lithium-ion battery research. Researcher examining the hot-wire chemical deposition system used in lithium ion (Li-ion) battery anodes. These anodes use nanoparticles of molybdenum oxide with hot-wire chemical vapour deposition, in which the molybdenum filament is heated to a white hot temperature (lower right) inside a quartz tube filled with argon.
