Badwater Basin, Death Valley, Death Valley National Park, California, USA. Tourists at a pond on this salt flat, which is the lowest point in Death Valley, with an elevation of 86 metres below sea level. It is the lowest spot in North America. Death Valley is about 220 kilometres long and 25 kilometres wide. It has a hot arid climate, and temperatures can exceed 50 degrees Celsius. Photographed in July.
