Historical illustration showing the anarchists of La Mano Negra ('The Black Hand') being executed by garroting (strangling). La Mano Negra was an alleged secret and violent anarchist organisation that was founded in Andalucia, Spain, at the end of the 19th century. Seven of their members were executed in the Plaza del Mercado, Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, on 14th June 1884. Image from Le Petit Journal newspaper, France, April 1892.
