Caption

Animation of the electric field lines around a pear-shaped conductor. The charge is unevenly distributed on the surface of the pear shape, with more density at the more curved regions. This is the case both when the charge is negative, and the field lines attract a positive charge, and when the charge is positive, and the field lines push away a positive charge.
