Wind turbines and rainbow. Partial view of a rainbow with wind turbines at a windfarm. Rainbows are seen when sunlight from behind the observer is reflected and refracted by rain in front. Wind turbines are used to generate electricity from the winds formed by the heating of the Earth by the Sun. They are an environmentally-friendly source of energy, as they release no toxic waste products and do not rely on a limited resource for fuel. Photographed in 2012, near Upolu Airport, Kohala Coast, Big Island of Hawaii, USA.
