Glycerol and potassium reaction. Timelapse footage of glycerol being added to potassium permanganate and the following reaction. The potassium permanganate oxidises the alcohol in the glycerol. This is an exothermic (heat-releasing) reaction. The amount of heat released eventually ignites the glycerol.
