DAPK3 and Pyridone 6 proteins. Molecular model of death-associated protein kinase 3 (DAPK3), also called dual leucine zipper kinase (ZIPK), complexing with a pyridone 6 molecule. DAPK3 initiates apoptosis (programmed cell death), which is a natural defence mechanism if cells start to function abnormally. Pyridone 6 is a kinase inhibitor. If these molecules do not work efficiently, they can result in cancer, where cells have limitless growth and proliferation.
