At left is Swiss physicist and Nobel laureate (Karl) Alexander Muller (born 1927). The car is connected with a wire to a charging station. Muller shared the 1987 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work here in the 1980s on high-temperature superconductivity. The Mini-El, from Denmark, was first marketed in 1987. As of 2014, it is known as the CityEl and produced in Germany.
