The Trans-Alaskan Oil Pipeline and the Dalton highway in arctic Northern Alaska. The pipeline carries oil from the North Slope oil fields near Prudhoe Bay on the north coast to Valdez on the southern coast, a distance of 1, 284km. The pipeline is 1.21m in diameter, and can transport 2 million barrels (318 million litres) of crude oil per day.
