Cefalexin antibiotic drug. Tub containing capsules of the antibiotic drug cefalexin (CX). This drug is a cephalosporin antibiotic that can be used as an alternative to penicillin-based drugs. It is used to treat infections of the skin, urinary tract, and respiratory tract. It was developed in 1967 by the US pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company, and is now marketed under a wide variety of brand names worldwide.
