Caption

Illustration of the female pelvic bones and reproductive organs. This is a frontal view. Left and right are the ilial bones, joined by the sacrum posteriorly. At lower centre is the vagina, which also functions as the birth canal. Above it is the bony pubic symphysis. Above the pubic bones is the bladder, behind which is the uterus, where a foetus develops during pregnancy. Left and right are the fronded ends of the oviducts (Fallopian tubes). The ureters can be seen running upwards from either side of the bladder. Arteries and veins are coloured red and blue respectively.
