Mouth tumour. Close-up of the inside of a patient's mouth with a benign (non-cancerous) papilloma (upper centre and left) on the soft palate. Papillomas are tumours of epithelial tissue. They are often caused by infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV) and are mostly benign, however HPV is a major cause of cervical cancer.
