Wright Flyer patent, 22 May 1906. This is sheet 1 of 3 of the application filed with the US Patent Office on 23 March 1903 by Orville and Wilbur Wright for their design for a flying machine. US aviation pioneers the Wright brothers produced a series of Wright aircraft models, starting with their Wright Flyer that made the first successful flight by a heaver-than-air machine (1903). The historic flight took place on 17 December 1903, though the first public demonstration flights did not take place until 1908. US attorney Harry Aubrey Toulmin (1858-1942, signature at lower right) acted on their behalf in the ensuing patent wars. Patent number 821,393.
