Caption

Synura sphagnicola, Chrysophytes or Golden Algae, common in Spahgnum bogs. These motile spherical colonies have yellow brown plastids, two flagella of different length, red oil droplets, and are covered with siliceous scales. Microscopic contrast method : Differential interference contrast. Magnification 580x when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
