Cymbella sp. Diatoms, two cells seen from girdle view, with the fine pattern of the frustule, the housing of the diatom cell, composed of amorphous opaline silica with organic coatings. The chloroplasts of diatoms contain fucoxanthin, which covers the green chloroplasts. That makes the brownish-golden color of all diatoms. The cells are attached to the substrate with transparent stalks. Microscopic contrast technique : Differential interference contrast. Magnification 580x when printed 10 centimetres wide.
