Caption

Puffin (Fratercula arctica) holding several sandeels in its bill. The puffin can catch several sandeels at once as it can use its tongue to hold caught ones in place while still hunting others. Its bill is jointed in such a way that it can close with the edges parallel, so it emerges from its dives with a number of captured fish ready to eat. Filmed in summer 2014 on Skomer Island, Pembrokeshire.
