Caption

Treated carotid-cavernous fistula, X-ray. Angiogram of a carotid-cavernous fistula (CCF) that has been treated using a balloon catheter (round, centre). A CCF is an abnormal link between the arterial and venous systems within the cavernous sinus of the skull. Here, the balloon has been inserted through a catheter and inflated to block (occlude) the link.
