Timelapse of a tilt up from the village of Oia, Santorini, Greece, at night. Oia is built on the steep cliffs of the Santorini caldera in the southern Aegean Sea. Santorini is a group of islands that are the tips of the caldera of a huge volcano. The volcano experienced an enormous explosive eruption in around 1500-1600 BCE, which devastated the nearby Minoan civilisation, and left the few small steep islands as all that remained of the much larger volcano.
