Caption

Light microscopy of a cross-section of a peripheral nerve. Nerve fibres are aggregated into bundles or fascicles. Individual nerves are noted as tiny circles representing a central axon surrounded by a ring of myelin sheath. This is typical of myelinated nerves. The nerve bundles are held together by connective tissues referred to as epineurium and perineurium through which capillaries supply blood to the nerves. Magnification x480 when narrow width printed at 10 cm.
