Differential interference contrast light microscopy of an Aeolosoma hemprichi annelid worm from a small freshwater pond. This transparent segmented worm is found in soil and decaying mater, where it feeds on microorganisms. The worm's characteristic spots arise from oil droplets in the epidermal cells.
