Caption

Daniel Chalonge (1895-1977), French astronomer and astrophysicist, making observations with a telescope. Chalonge was one of the founders of the Institut d'astropysique de Paris, France. He studied the stellar spectrum of hydrogen, stellar photometry and the measurement of the ozone layer. He also developed a microphotometer, which was name after him. Photographed in Arosa, Switzerland, circa 1926.
