Embryo splitting. Light microscopy footage of an embryo at the blastocyst stage being split. A micropipette (top) holds the embryo in place, while a sharp blade is used to bisect the embryo. This process is also used to determine the sex of an embryo, with a biopsy carried out the dissected half. Both halves will be the same sex. This embryo is from a pig.
