Hot spring bacteria. Footage of a hot spring, followed by light microscopy footage of extremophile bacteria in the water. These bacteria live in an oxygen-free environment and are resistant to high temperatures that can reach above 70 degrees Celsius. This sample is from a geothermal area in Yellowstone National Park, USA. Yellowstone springs and geysers contain thermophile (heat-loving) microbes, such as cyanobacteria and extremophile bacteria.
