Clubmoss (Lycopodium clavatum) stem. Light micrograph of a section through a stem from a stag's-horn clubmoss plant, showing the central stele and outer layer of epidermis (red) with its cuticle. The stele consists of parallel plates of xylem tracheid cells (brown) and alternating bands of phloem sieve tube cells (pink). Magnification: x5 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
