Shown here are the parenchyma cells of the inner cortex (green-red), the outer ring of the endodermis (black-red) and inner ring of the pericycle (red). At centre is the metaxylem (large cells, green-red) and protoxylem (small cells, red). The xylem is surrounded by the phloem sieve tube cells (green). Magnification: x10 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
