Scanning Electron Micrograph of a Radiolarian skeleton. Radiolarians are amoeboid protozoa that produce intricate mineral skeletons. They are found as zooplankton throughout the ocean, and their skeletal remains cover large portions of the ocean bottom as radiolarian ooze. These specimens are vase-shaped with tail and three prongs; side view; two small, one sphere with two spines and ornate pores. Radiolarians and Heliozoans mixed.
