Colour-enhanced light micrograph of a thin section of a Pseudomonas alboprecipitans bacterium. This species is a pathogen of plants in the Gramineae family, which includes corn and other cereal crops. Pseudomonas are a genus of gram-negative bacteria which include several free-living species of soil and water bacteria, as well as some opportunistic pathogens. They are notable for their fluorescent pigments and their resistance to disinfectants and antibiotics. Magnification: 200,000X at 6.5 by 12 print size.
