Magnetic attraction. Iron filings are sprinkled over two bar magnets revealing the shape of the three-dimensional magnetic field around them. Bar magnets have a north and a south pole. Unlike poles attract each other, whereas like poles repel each other. Here, the magnetic field induces magnetism in the iron filings which line up showing the attraction between the north and south poles.
