Brevetoxin. Molecular model of the neurotoxin brevetoxin (C50.H70.O14). This chemical binds to voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve cells. It is usually ingested via contaminated shellfish, and causes the condition known as neurotoxic shellfish poisoning (NSP) Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white) and oxygen (red).
