Caption

Cathinone. Molecular model of the drug cathinone (C9.H11.N.O), found in the shrub Catha edulis. Known as khat, the leaves of this plant are traditionally chewed for their stimulant effect. This is due to cathinone, which is a amphetamine-like monoamine alkaloid. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white) and oxygen (red).
