American crow in a tree. American crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos) perched in tree covered in Spanish moss (Tillandsia usneoides). Spanish moss is an epiphyte - a plant that grows harmlessly on another plant and takes moisture and nutrients from the air and rain. The American crow is found throughout the USA. It can reach between 40 and 50 centimetres in length with a wingspan of up to 68 centimetres. Photographed in Florida, USA.
