Butterflies mud-puddling. Group of male pontic blues (Neolysandra coelestina) and a marsh fritillary (Euphydryas aurinia, upper right) drinking water from the surface of mud. This behaviour, known as mud-puddling, is the way in which butterflies obtain nutrients and salts. Photographed in the Yaylalar valley, Pontic Mountains, Turkey.
