Caption

CFL light bulb efficiency. Animation showing the energy efficiency of a CFL (compact fluorescent lamp) light bulb. 60% of the electrical energy is converted into light, and 40% is lost as heat. The energy efficiency of CFL light bulbs is several times better than incandescent lamps, but not as great as LED (light-emitting diode) lamps. See K004/8886 and K004/8882 for comparison.
