Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). X-ray of a section through a rainbow trout. Rainbow trout are native to cold-water tributaries of the Pacific Ocean in Asia and North America. They are an important commercial food fish and are farmed as well as caught in the wild. This specimen was collected in 2004 in Wyoming, USA, and measures 19 centimetres in length.
