Bothid flatfish (Chascanopsetta sp.). X-ray of a section through a new species of bothid flatfish (lefteye flounders), showing their large jaws (left). Adult flatfish swim on their sides and have two eyes on the same side of their head. During development, one eye migrates to the upward-facing side, leaving the other side blind. These specimens measure 20.5 centimetres in length.
