Common toads. Juvenile common toads (Bufo bufo), soon after emerging from their tadpole stage. Toads are generally nocturnal, hiding during the day and emerging at dusk to feed on small invertebrates. They prefer moist conditions, and return to a pond to breed. They secrete a toxic substance, bufagin, to deter predators. Footage filmed in Wales, UK.
