Caption

Tree bumblebee. High-speed footage of a tree bumblebee (Bombus hypnorum) visiting blossoms to collect nectar and pollen. This species is common in continental Europe, the UK and Iceland, having been successfully reintroduced from New Zealand. The bee has prominent pollen baskets (orange) on its hind legs. The baskets, or corbiculae, are used by the bee to collect and store pollen from flowers. It carries the pollen back to its nest, where it is fed to the larvae. Filmed in Wales, UK.
